One of the French trainings of the NT4EU project is taking place right now in Montpellier (from the end of October to the end of December).
For the recruitment process of the participants, Simplon worked closely with several local partners (Pole emploi, SINGA, accomodations centers for refugees) who were in charge to do a pre-selection of the potential candidates. Then, Simplon organized one day of selection in their premises to create a group of 15 people. Each participant got an interview to check their administrative situation, their motivation, and their technical background.
Among the 15 people selected there are 7 different nationalities. Most of them worked in another field before coming to France. The participants don’t necessarily wich to work in IT field but they all want to increase their knowledge in this area.
Most of them have basic IT knowledge (use of social network, an e-mail address, they know how to do an Internet search) but they don’t feel comfortable on a laptop and they need either to “refresh” their knowledges or just get new competencies. Generally, participants don’t know what is an anti-virus or how to create a basic website.
The training is developed on 7 modules:
1. Building the digital technical environment
2. Find information on the web
3. Managing and using data
4. Communicate and collaborate in a network
5. Create text, multimedia, and web content
6. Protect and secure
7. Keeping your digital technical environment operational
After the training, the goal for the participants is to get a certification that is recognized by French State. This Certification “Compétences Numériques Fondamentales” acknowledges the mastery of basic skills on a computer, which can be a passport to get access to some jobs.
